How to install Windows on Mac using Parallels Desktop

(Windows on Mac using Parallels Desktop)There have been a few tutorials to install Windows on Mac (Applies to both M1 and Intel), using Parallels Desktop already, today I wrote a detailed tutorial on hand-held style so that even women can install Windows on Mac M1

Part 1: Preparation: Loading Necessary Tools

Step 1. Download Parallel Desktop 17 here (Version 17 can use the old tool, version 18 must use the new Tool PD Runner)

Step 2: Download the Windows installer here

Note: only download 1 installer depending on whether you want to install Windows 10 or Windows 11, new or old, M1 or Intel

M1:
Intel:

- Windows_11_Pro_x64 | OneDrive

Part 2. Install Parallel Desktop

Step 1: Run the Parallel file downloaded above, and click Install to install as usual. When installing, if you encounter a screen asking for Update, close it and choose as shown

After the installation is complete, you will see the screen below.

Step 2: Leave that screen as it is, look up the Menubar, click on Parallel’s 2 red parallel tiles icon, select Account & License

Then use an email that has never been registered with Parallel to log in, and select Business Edition. Then choose to Try Free 14 days

Note: It takes 14 days of Active Trial Business Edition to use the bypass tool below

Step 3: After the Trial is active, return to the screen in step 1. Usually Parallel will automatically detect the Windows file you downloaded in part 1, you just need to click Create (if you don’t see it, choose Choose Manuel and find it. previously downloaded file.)

Here, whoever uses the ISO file does not show the Windows version, just select the first white box (red circled below the image).

In this step, remember to keep the virtual machine name (Windows 10) and click on Customize Setting as shown.

Wait for the Creating process to run for a while, the Customize screen will appear. By default, the virtual machine has only 3GB of RAM and 2 Core, you can increase it to 4GB and 4 Core depending on your needs. The other configuration probably doesn’t need much attention, so leave the default.

Note: For anyone who installs Windows 11 on Intel in the Customize> Hardware section, click the + sign and select the TPM Chip to avoid errors: “this pc doesn't meet the minimum requirements”

After editing, close, and confirm again to be sure, if you don’t like it, you can click Configure to adjust.

Click Continue to continue. During the installation process, popups ask for permission to access folders, cameras, etc., then click OK to allow. If you see a window asking to install Parallel Toolbox, click Skip to skip it.

Wait for a while for the installation to complete. That’s it, the installation step is complete.

Part 3: Bypass Trial Parallel Desktop

If you have followed the instructions above correctly, you just need to download the following additional files:

PD_Runner_0.3.8.dmg | OneDrive

After downloading, drag to Application and run this command to open it without errors

xattr -cr /Applications/PD\ Partner.app

Download, open the dmg file, then drag the PD Runer file to the Application folder, then run the tool

If you used the old version of PD Runner before, you will get an error as shown below, just click Show in Finder, then delete the file com.lihaoyun6.PD-Runner-Helper and run the tool again

To be sure, run the following command:

sudo launchctl enable system/com.lihaoyun6.PD-Runner-Helper

Then run the PD Runer file in the Application, and an icon will appear on the Menubar as shown, just select the virtual machine you want to Start or Start / Stop all virtual machines depending on…. There is also a Block trial alert option to turn off the trial notification

Some errors and how to fix them:

Some of you do not fully follow the instructions (or have read HD elsewhere before), so the operation process may cause errors, you can check the error below if you see it, you know how to fix it yourself:

1. Error “Unable to connect to Parallels Services” when running the bypass tool

This error is because you have not logged into your Parallel account, you need to log in and activate Trial first before you can run the bypass tool

Note: If you are selecting Block alert trial, you need to remove this checkmark to log in, after logging in and active trial, you can select it again to not show the trial message anymore.

2. Error: “The command is available only in Parallel Desktop for Mac Pro or Business Edition” as shown below: Reread Part 2 – step 2

3. Error Failed to start the VM: The configuration file on you specified is invalid.

This error is caused by a different virtual machine name from the one configured in Tool Bypass. AE just Shutdown the virtual machine, then click on the 2 parallel red brick icons on the Parallel Menubar > select Control Center > see the virtual machine name, if it’s not correct, then right-click and select Configure > Change the Name section to Windows 10 and run again get the byp4ss tool. Remember that you have to shut down the virtual machine to change the name.

4. Error: Trial has Expired right after doing step 2:

– This case is because your email or device has been registered for a trial with Parallel, you follow the following order:

a. Sign out the account from the previous Parallel.

b. Goto System Preference > Date & time > uncheck: “Set date and time automatically”.

– Set the system time to any amount of time before you signed up for the Parallel Desktop trial last time. If you don’t remember, you can adjust it to February 21, 2021, for sure.

Then use an email that has never been registered in Parallel (you can also enter a random email) to register a new account and log in, then activate Trial as instructed above.

c. You install or run win if Win is already available, run the bypass tool once

d. You can then reset the system date and time by ticking the “Set date and time automatically” checkmark again. The next time you want to open the virtual machine, just click on the Windows 10 file, even if it’s expired, it can still be opened normally.

e. Error “Unable to operate because “Windows 10″ is not stopped”

For this error, you just need to return to the Parallel screen, look up and you will see the word Action, go to Action > select Stop (Or you can go to Control Center > Right-click the virtual machine and select Stop ), then run the tool again.

f. Error “This product was activated for a limited period has now expired….”

Anyone who encounters this error must have read this article for a long time and was using Parallel Desktop 17.0.1 with the old tool at that time, you just need to download the new Bypass tool to use it.

How to use

Step 1. Select and download Parallel Desktop 18 with genuine medicine at the link above

Step 2: Open the downloaded file, open the Parallel Desktop 18.x.dmg file. Then click Install to install as usual.

Note: If you see a screen asking for an update, choose like this

After the installation is complete, you will see the screen below, leave it alone, go to step 3

Step 3: Open the downloaded file again in step 1 . Copy the Activ3 folder to the Desktop

Step 4. Open Terminal and run the following 2 commands in turn:

cd desktop/Activ3

chmod +x ./install.sh && sudo ./install.sh

Note: There is a high possibility that after the drug is finished, opening it for the first time will hang at the Starting screen, you just need to Quit and open it again.

Step 5: On this screen, you can use Parallel’s built-in Windows 11 auto-download feature or use an ISO file depending on you. In this HD article, click on the word Intall Windows to install it for easy.

Wait about 10-15 minutes depending on the network speed

Wait for a while for the installation to complete. Showing a screen like this is done, the rest to do with Windows is up to you.

Did You Install The Play Store On Windows 11? Read This Now

(Did You Install the Play Store on Windows 11) In March 2022, we published instructions for installing the Google Play store on Windows 11. The method involved an open-source project from GitHub. Unfortunately, it contained malware. Here’s how to fix it.

Let’s lead with the important part:

At this point, we don’t have reason to believe that any of your sensitive information was compromised.

Here’s What Happened

Windows 11 introduced the ability to install Android apps, but not via the Google Play Store. Naturally, people began looking for ways around this. The tutorial we published contained instructions to download a script from a third-party website. Over the weekend, a group working with the script discovered it contained malware.

Note

Some other websites also recommended this script. Even if you followed another website’s tutorial, you might have downloaded the script that contained the malware.

What the Script Did

The script downloaded a tool — Windows Toolbox — that includes a feature to install the Google Play store to your Windows 11 device. Unfortunately, the script that downloaded the Windows Toolbox did more than it advertised. It also contained obfuscated code that would set up a series of scheduled tasks and created a browser extension targeting Chromium-based browsers — Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave. Only Windows PCs with their language set to English were targeted.

The browser extension was then run in a “headless” browser window in the background, effectively hiding it from the user. At this time, the group that discovered the malware thinks the primary purpose of the extension was ad fraud, rather than anything more sinister.

The scheduled tasks also ran a handful of other scripts that served a few different purposes. For example, one would monitor the active tasks on a PC and kill the browser and extension being used for ad fraud any time Task Manager was opened. Even if you noticed your system acting a bit laggy and went to check for a problem, you wouldn’t find one. A separate scheduled task, set to run every 9 minutes, would then restart the browser and extension.

The most concerning pair tasks created would use curl to download files from the original website that delivered the malicious script, and then execute whatever it downloaded. The tasks were set to run every 9 minutes after a user logged into their account. In theory, this could have been used to deliver updates to the malicious code to add functionality to the current malware, deliver separate malware, or anything else the author wanted.

Luckily, whoever was behind the attack didn’t get there — so far as we know, the curl task was never used for anything more than to download a test file named “asd,” which did nothing. The domain that the curl task downloaded files from has since been removed thanks to speedy action from CloudFlare. That means that even if the malware is still running on your machine, it cannot download anything else. You just need to remove it, and you’re good to go.

To reiterate: As Cloudflare has removed the domain, the malware cannot download any additional software or receive any commands.

How to Fix It

There are two options available right now to fix it. The first is to manually delete all of the impacted files and scheduled tasks yourself. The second is to use a script written by the people who discovered the malware in the first place.

Note

At the moment, no antivirus software will detect or remove this malware if it is running on your machine.

Cleaning Up Manually

We’ll start by deleting all of the malicious tasks, and then we’ll delete all of the files and folders it created.

1. Removing Malicious Tasks

The tasks created are all buried under the Microsoft > Windows tasks in Task Scheduler. Here’s how to find and remove them.

Click Start, then type “Task Scheduler” into the search bar and hit Enter or click “Open.”

You need to navigate into the Microsoft > Windows tasks. All you need to do is double click “Task Scheduler Library,” “Microsoft,” and then “Windows,” in that order. That holds for opening up any of the tasks listed below, too.

Once you’re there, you’re ready to begin deleting tasks. The malware creates as many as 8 tasks.

Note

Because of how the malware works, you might not have all of the listed services.

You need to delete any of these that are present:

AppID > VerifiedCert
Application Experience > Maintenance
Services > CertPathCheck
Services > CertPathw
Servicing > ComponentCleanup
Servicing > ServiceCleanup
Shell > ObjectTask
Clip > ServiceCleanup

Once you identify a malicious service in the Task Scheduler, right-click it, then hit “Delete.”

Warning

Do not delete any other tasks aside from the precise ones we mentioned above. Most tasks here are created by Windows itself or by legitimate third-party applications.

Delete all of the tasks from the above list that you can find, and then you’re ready to move on to the next step.

2. Removing Malicious Files and Folders

The malware creates only a handful of files, and luckily, they’re contained within only three folders:

C:\systemfiles
C:\Windows\security\pywinvera
C:\Windows\security\pywinveraa

First, open File Explorer. At the top of File Explorer, click “View,” go to “Show,” and then make sure “Hidden Items” is ticked.

Look for a slightly transparent folder named “systemfile.” If it is there, right-click it and hit “Delete.”

Warning

Be sure you correctly identify the folders we’re about to delete. Accidentally deleting real Windows folders can cause problems. If you do that, restore them from the Recycle Bin as soon as possible.

Once you delete the “systemfiles” folder, double-click the Windows folder, and then scroll until you find the “Security” folder. You’re looking for two folders: one is named “pywinvera” and the other is named “pywinveraa”. Right-click each of them, and then click “Delete.”

Note

Deleting files and folders within the Windows folder will probably trigger a warning about needing administrative privileges. If prompted, go ahead and allow it. (Be sure you’re deleting only the exact files and folders we mention here, however.)

You’re done — while annoying, this particular piece of malware didn’t do too much to protect itself.

Cleaning Up With a Script

The same eagle-eyed folks who identified the malware in the first place also spent the weekend dissecting the malicious code, determining how it functioned, and ultimately, writing a script to remove it. We’d like to give a shout-out to the team for their efforts.

You’re right to be leery of trusting another utility from GitHub considering how we got here. However, the circumstances are a bit different. Unlike the script involved in delivering the malicious code, the removal script is short, and we’ve manually audited it — every single line. We’re also hosting the file ourselves to ensure that it cannot be updated without allowing us to manually confirm it is safe. We tested this script on multiple machines to make sure it was effective.

First, download the zipped script from our website, and then extract the script anywhere you want.

Then you need to enable scripts. Click the Start button, type “PowerShell” into the search bar, and click “Run as Administrator.”

Then type or paste set-executionpolicy remotesigned into the PowerShell window, and hit Y. You can then close the PowerShell window.

Navigate to your downloads folder, right-click Removal.ps1, and click “Run with PowerShell” The script will check for malicious tasks, folders, and files on your system.

If they’re present, you’ll be given the option to delete them. Type “Y” or “y” into the PowerShell window, and then hit Enter.

The script will then delete all of the junk created by the malware.

Once you’ve run the removal script, return your script execution policy to the default setting. Open PowerShell as administrator, enter, and hit Y. Then close the PowerShell window.

What We’re Doing

The situation is evolving, and we’re keeping an eye on things as it does. There are still some unanswered questions — like why some people report an unexplained OpenSSH Server being installed. If any important new information comes to light, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.

(How to Restart an App)By restarting a Windows app, you can fix the app’s minor issues, bring your changes in the app into effect, and sometimes even update your app. Closing and reopening an app on a Windows 11 or Windows 10 PC only requires a few clicks. Here’s how to do it.

Close and Relaunch an App on Windows 11 and Windows 10

To quit and reopen an app on your PC, first, access the app you want to close. In the app’s top-right corner, click the “X” icon. Alternatively, use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Q or Ctrl+W.

If yours is a full-screen app and you don’t see the “X” icon, exit the full-screen mode by pressing the Esc or F11 key, then click “X.”

Your Windows app is now closed.

Note that some apps, like Discord, don’t fully quit when you simply select “X” in the app’s top-right corner. These apps get minimized to your PC’s system tray. To close such apps, right-click their icons in your system tray and select the “close” or “quit” option.

Now that your app is closed, to relaunch that app, access your PC’s desktop or “Start” menu. Find the app to open and select the app.

Windows will relaunch your selected app, and you’re all set.

What to Do If a Windows App Refuses to Close

Sometimes, some apps refuse to close and become unresponsive. This makes clicking the “X” icon in the app’s top-right corner impossible.

To tackle that issue, force your app to close from your PC’s Task Manager utility. This ends the process of running your app, forcing your app to quit.

To do that, right-click your “Start” menu icon and choose “Task Manager.”

In Task Manager, select the “Processes” tab. Then, find the app to close, right-click the app, and choose “End Task.”

Windows will forcibly close your selected app. You can now relaunch the app by double-clicking the app’s shortcut on your desktop or finding the app in your PC’s “Start” menu and selecting it there.

How To Install Any Android APK On Windows 11

How To Install Any Android APK On Windows 11?

(Install Any Android APK On Windows) The web is great and all, but depending on your workflow, keeping specific windows for dedicated tasks is the way to go. With Windows 11, Microsoft made it possible to bring all of your favorite apps to your PC — as long as they’re on the Amazon Appstore, that is. With such a limited selection to choose from, many Windows users might write off the feature altogether. Thankfully, we’re talking about Android apps here, so sideloading is absolutely an option.

While you can absolutely use ADB on Windows 11 to install any APK file, it’s not exactly the most intuitive process for many users. If you’re looking to try out some of your favorite mobile apps on desktop, you don’t need to rely on command lines or Amazon’s lineup of software. Instead, all you need is a simple GUI known as WSA PacMan — short for Package Manager — to turn any APK into a double-click install. Here’s how it works.

Grab the Amazon Appstore

Because WSA PacMan is just an interface designed to streamline sideloading, you’ll still need to get the bones of Android support up and running on Windows 11. You’ll have to start by installing the Amazon Appstore if you don’t already have it, since it includes Windows Subsystem for Android.

Open the Microsoft Store on your computer.
Search for “Amazon Appstore” using the search bar at the top of the page.
Click the “Get” option to install the app on your computer.

You don’t need to log into the Amazon Appstore — installing it is enough to add WSA to your device.

Unfortunately, the Appstore is only available in the US right now, so non-US readers will have to jump through a couple of hoops to get WSA up and running. It’s a complicated process, but the fine folks at XDA Developers have an excellent guide on how to get it on any computer — no Amazon Appstore required.

Get WSA PacMan up and running

Okay, with Windows Subsystem for Android ready to go on your PC, we’re one step closer to sideloading paradise. Here’s what you’ll need to do next.

(1). Using the Start menu, locate and open Windows Subsystem for Android.

(2). Make sure Developer mode is enabled. Since all sideloading is done through ADB commands — even if you’re running a third-party GUI — this is a necessary step.

(3). Click “Manage developer settings,” then look for USB debugging and toggle it on. This screen should look familiar to Android users — it’s the same menu you’ll find in any AOSP build.

(4). Meanwhile, if you haven’t already, download WSA PacMan from GitHub by selecting the latest version under “Releases.” There’s also a portable version if you’d rather not use a .exe file.

(5). Follow through with the installation process to get WSA PacMan running on your computer, then open the app from the Start menu.

If everything is ready to go, you’ll see a “Connected” notification at the top of the app.

Installing APKs on Windows 11 with WSA PacMan

From here, you can close out of Windows Subsystem for Android and WSA PacMan, as they don’t need to be open to install APKs on your computer. After all, you’ve done the hard work — now all you need is an app to install.

Locate the APK file on your device, or grab one from a site like APK Mirror, and double-click on it like any other .exe file on Windows. WSA PacMan takes care of the rest, prompting a message similar to what you would see on Android. You’ll also get the option to create a desktop shortcut for your app once installed.

From here, the app will function just like any other software on your computer. It’s accessible from the Start menu, can be pinned to your taskbar, and even uninstalled with a simple right-click. Just keep in mind that not every app is guaranteed to work here. Streaming apps like Netflix, for example, will likely run into DRM-related issues, as Windows 11 lacks Winevine support at the moment.

By far the easiest and most effective way to change the appearance of the Windows 11 Start menu is to use a third-party app such as Start11. This app lets you change the Start menu’s appearance with just a few clicks and doesn’t negatively affect the rest of your settings or files.

Note: Start11 does cost $5 but it also offers a 30-day free trial which lets you test most of its features. For this example, we’ll show the process of downloading and using the trial version. The full version can then be purchased at a later time from within the app.

How to share your Wi-Fi on Windows 11

(Wi-Fi on Windows 11)A few months ago, one of my devices randomly decided it didn’t want to connect wirelessly to my internet anymore. This was annoying, but while I waited for it to be repaired, there was an easy fix. I could turn my Windows desktop into a mobile hotspot and use that to get the device online.

This trick can also be handy to have in your pocket if you’re having guests over and want to give them easy access to your internet without throwing your password around.

Here’s how to share your Wi-Fi from your Windows PC. (This was tested using a Windows 11 system.)

Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Hotspot. Toggle Mobile Hotspot on.
Select Share my Internet Connection from, and choose the connection you want to share.
Select whether you’d like to share your connection over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Click on Edit. Name your hotspot, set a password, make whatever other tweaks you want, and click Save.

Step 1: Access Network Settings

Begin by navigating to the network settings on your Windows 11 device. You can easily access this by clicking on the network icon in the taskbar, typically located at the bottom right corner of your screen. Alternatively, you can press the ‘Windows’ key, type “Settings,” and select the ‘Network & internet’ option.

Step 2: Choose Wi-Fi Settings

Within the Network & internet settings, click on the ‘Wi-Fi’ tab. This section displays the available Wi-Fi networks and related settings.

Step 3: Manage Known Networks

Scroll down to the “Manage known networks” section. Here, you’ll find a list of all the Wi-Fi networks your device has connected to in the past. Locate the network you wish to share and click on it.

Step 4: Share Wi-Fi Network

After enabling Wi-Fi sharing, it’s always a good idea to test the connection on another device. Confirm that the shared network is accessible and provides a stable internet connection.

Now, you just need to connect your other devices to that hotspot. To do that, go to the device’s Wi-Fi settings and find the network name you just gave your hotspot. You should be able to enter the password and connect as you would with any other network.

How to use:

1-Step 1. Disable System Integrity Protection (SIP)

2-Step 2: Open the Parallel Desktop 18.x.dmg file. Then click Install to install as usual.

3-Step 3: Copy Activ3 folder to the Desktop

4-Step 4: Open patch.sh file

5-Step 5: Enter your login password (nothing shows at the time of entry, just enter it correctly)

It will then ask y/n to press y and then enter (can ask several times depending on the software installed on your Mac)

6-Step 6: That’s it, open Parallel, click the Parallels icon on the Menu bar > select Account & License > Show as shown is successful

After installation, if anyone has a network error, run the Fix_Network_USB.pkg file, and those who do not, ignore this file.

NOTE:
Do not delete the Activ3 folder on the Desktop. Some people have reported issues after deletion.
