How To Downgrade From IOS 16 Beta To IOS 15

(IOS 16 Beta To IOS 15)Are you done beta testing iOS 16 on your iPhone or iPad? Are you looking to downgrade from iOS 16 beta to iOS15 on your iOS device? Then you are in the right place.

Here we have shared a step-by-step guide that will help you uninstall iOS 16 beta from your device and install stable iOS 15.

This guide is for both iOS 16 developer beta and iOS 16 public beta. So no matter if your device is on developer beta or public beta, you can follow these steps to downgrade to iOS 15.

Before you begin make sure you backup your device to iCloud Backup. Any computer backups that you have created using iTunes or Finder while running iOS 16 beta will not work once you downgrade to iOS 15.

You can create an iCloud Backup on your device by going to Settings -> Your Name -> iCloud -> iCloud Backup -> Turn On: Back Up This iPhone. Also, make sure to tap on the Back Up Now button.

Note: If you have also updated your Apple Watch to watchOS 9 beta, then many of Apple Watch’s new features may not work. You cannot downgrade watchOS 9 beta to watchOS 8 at home and only way to downgrade is to take it to an Apple Store.

Downgrade iOS 16 beta to iOS 15

Follow these steps to uninstall iOS 16 beta from your iPhone or iPad and install stable iOS 15.

Step 1. Connect your iPhone or iPad to your computer using a USB cable.

Step 2. Put your device in Recovery Mode by following the instructions below. On iPads, the Power button is located at the top.

Connect an iPhone or iPad to a computer with a USB cable.
Press the Volume Up button and release. Then press the Volume Down button and release.
Press the Power button and keep it pressed until your device reboots.
Keep the Power button pressed even when you see the Apple logo.
Let go of the Power button as you see the Restore screen on your device.

Step 3. Now your computer should detect your device and give you Restore and Update options. Click on the ‘Restore’ button. Now Finder/iTunes will start installing the latest version of iOS 15 to your device.

Step 4. When prompted choose the ‘Install’ option to restore and finish the installation process.

After the process of Restore has completed you will be able to Restore your iPhone or iPad’s backup.

If you have a fresh iCloud Backup then choose restore from iCloud backup option. You can also choose restore from computer backup in case you want to restore data from a local backup.

IOS 15 Brings Back The Popular Dial Picker From IOS 13 And Earlier With Twist

(Popular Dial Picker) Across the system, iOS 14 brought a new dial picker that was quite the departure from the tried and true version we had in the years before. As we first reported in June, with iOS 15, Apple has brought back its popular wheel dial picker but with a small twist for those who prefer numpad entry.

iOS 14 made a big shift with its dial picker. Instead of the large, wheel-style dial picker, it adopted a small hybrid approach that included both a numpad input and a somewhat hidden dial picker.

Many users have found the iOS 14 picker less convenient and intuitive to use with the ability to select the hours or minutes or both for editing with the numpad. And with the iOS 14 dial picker being so small, it’s not as fast and seamless to quickly swipe your numbers in.

New iOS 15 dial picker with a twist

Apple has decided to bring back the time-tested large dial picker from iOS 13 and earlier. You’ll find it across the system in iOS 15 on iPhone and iPad and it’s got an even cleaner design than ever.

But along with the return of the large dial, there’s something new – you can also tap it to pull up the numpad (thanks for spotting codemonkey85!).

So the new picker is a hybrid approach with the old favorite being the default/first accessible with but the numpad just a tap away:

How iPhone’s Live Text OCR works in iOS 15

One of the handy new features arriving with iOS 15 is the option to quickly recognize text and select, copy, paste, and lookup in both the Camera and Photos app. Let’s looks at how iPhone Live Text OCR works from photos to screenshots and handwriting too.

Live Text isn’t the flashiest of features but it really offers a lot of convenience. Up until now, you’ve needed to download a third-party app to get this functionality on iPhone and iPad.

But with iOS 15 (iPadOS 15 too), Apple is including optical character recognition (OCR) as a seamless option in the Camera app as well as for photos and screenshots you’ve already taken in the Photos app.

Here’s how Apple describes the feature:

There is so much rich information in your photos, from memorable places you’ve visited to handwritten family recipes. iOS 15 uses secure on-device intelligence to help you discover more in your photos, quickly find what you’re looking for, and relive special moments.

In the Camera app

With iOS 15 in the Camera app, look for the new Live Text button (viewfinder square with three lines)
- Bottom right corner when in portrait orientation or bottom left in landscape
Look for the yellow viewfinder rectangle to appear as the camera notices text as you move your camera around
When you have the yellow viewfinder surrounding the text you want, tap the Live Text button to be able to select, copy, look up, translate, and share recognized text
- And text like phone numbers, emails, dates, addresses, etc. feature live links that can be acted on with a long-press
If the Live Text button and yellow viewfinder aren’t showing up, try moving closer to the text

Live Text even works with stylized fonts (although it confused Disney’s cursive “y” for a “p” in the example above.

In the Photos app

Live Text works for photos and screenshots you’ve already taken
Open Apple’s Photos app in iOS 15 and look for the same Live Text icon (viewfinder square with three lines)
Tap the icon to recognize all available text in an image
Or you can also just swipe or tap to select/copy/paste/etc. your text even without tapping the Live Text icon first

Live Text and handwriting

During the WWDC keynote, Apple showed off Live Text recognizing handwriting. We tested that out too and – at least for now in the beta – it works, but the accuracy may depend on the handwriting being a bit more legible than mine.

How to enable and disable iCloud Private Relay in iOS 15

(iCloud Private Relay) One of the new security features arriving with iOS 15 brings a new level of privacy to web browsing beyond what VPNs offer. But while the feature boasts total encryption, there is a potential downside with keeping it enabled. Here’s how to turn on/off iCloud Private Relay on iPhone and iPad in iOS 15.

Apple announced iCloud Private Relay as part of its enhanced iCloud+ features at WWDC with the feature live in iOS 15. At face value, it sounds like a VPN, but it’s notably different with the process including “two separate internet relays.” The second relay means even Apple doesn’t know who users are and the sites they’re visiting.

When browsing with Safari, Private Relay ensures all traffic leaving a user’s device is encrypted, so no one between the user and the website they are visiting can access and read it, not even Apple or the user’s network provider. All the user’s requests are then sent through two separate internet relays. The first assigns the user an anonymous IP address that maps to their region but not their actual location. The second decrypts the web address they want to visit and forwards them to their destination. This separation of information protects the user’s privacy because no single entity can identify both who a user is and which sites they visit

Apple’s VP of software engineering, Craig Federighi, also elaborated more on iCloud Private Relay in an interview, including, “We hope users believe in Apple as a trustworthy intermediary, but we didn’t even want you to have to trust us [because] we don’t have this ability to simultaneously source your IP and the destination where you’re going to–and that’s unlike VPNs.”

iCloud Private Relay is available with iCloud+ and the feature only works with Safari in iOS 15 on iPhone and iPad and Mac with macOS Monterey.

How to turn on/off iCloud Private Relay

Keep in mind, the two downsides you could see when using the feature is slower internet speeds and some websites may even block access when using Private Relay.

On iPhone or iPad running iOS 15, open the Settings app
Tap your name at the top > choose iCloud
Tap Private Relay
Tap the toggle to turn I Cloud Private Relay on/off
When turned on, you can also choose to “Maintain General Location” which is the default or change it to “Use Country and Time Zone” (more private but may remove some local content in Safari)
On Mac, if you’re running macOS Monterey, head to System Preferences > Apple ID > I Cloud > Private Relay.

Now you can toggle on/off Private Relay or change your IP address settings.

If you have the feature turned on, Apple gives a detailed warning about what you’re giving up privacy-wise when turning the feature off.

Apple’s latest iOS release comes with an all-new Safari design that places the address/search bar at the bottom of the screen by default. But you can switch back to the classic iOS Safari design with a top bar. Here’s how to change the iOS 15 Safari address/search bar on iPhone.

Apple made its way through multiple iterations of the new iOS 15 Safari design and with the sixth beta, it included the option to switch between the bottom address/search bar and the classic iOS Safari top address/search bar on iPhone.

The official iOS 15 public release also includes the classic bottom menu bar instead of packing all of Safari’s buttons into the unified address/search/tab bar.

How to change iOS 15 Safari address/search bar on iPhone

Running iOS 15, open Safari on your iPhone
In the bottom address/search bar, tap the “aA” icon on the left (when on a website)
Tap Show Top Address Bar
To change back to the bottom bar design
- Tap the “aA” icon in the top address/search bar
- Choose Show Bottom Tab Bar

Alternatively, you can also change the iOS 15 address/search bar by heading to the Settings app > Safari > swipe down and choose “Single Tab.”

The other way to change the address bar design is in the Settings app.

In addition to changing between the bottom and classic top address/search bar designs, you can choose to enable/disable website tinting (matches the top iPhone status bar to websites’ colors) and enable/disable the landscape tab bar.

Switch to Private Browsing on iPhone with the new Safari

Safari has gotten a major overhaul with iOS 15, and while there are a number of improvements and changes, some features aren’t found where they used to be. Read along for a look at how to switch to iPhone Private Browsing in Safari with iOS 15.

One of the biggest changes with Safari in iOS 15 is the default address/search bar is now on the bottom of the screen. There’s also a new tab/group tabs experience and more.

While some features are revertible (like changing back to a top bar design), some have permanently changed. With Private Browsing, iOS 15 will probably be a “who moved my cheese?” moment for a lot of users as it’s more buried than in iOS 14 and earlier.

As a refresher, here’s how Apple describes Private Browsing mode:

Safari won’t remember the pages you visited, your search history, or your AutoFill information after you close a tab in Private Browsing Mode.

Going beyond what Private Browsing offers, Apple is also launched iCloud Private Relay with iOS 15, which will be available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Shortcut

On your iPhone running iOS 15, open Safari
Do a long-press on the two-square icon in the bottom right corner (top right corner for landscape view)
Choose New Private Tab

Standard

In iOS 15, open Safari
Tap the two-square icon in the bottom right corner (top right corner if using landscape view)
Tap the “1 Tab” button (or “X Tabs”)
Choose Private
Tap the + icon in bottom corner
You can tell you’re using Private Browsing as the address/search turns dark
Follow the same steps and tap Private again to stop using the feature

Here’s how that looks on iPhone:

Now, just tap the + icon. When using light mode in iOS 15, the address/search bar will turn from white to gray, and when using dark mode, it will turn from gray to black while using iPhone Private Browsing.
